Success Story: Barossa Council - Corporate, Community and Library Services
Kiikstart worked with the Barossa Council’s library services leadership team to review and re-design how it was working together to deliver its services to the community.
The management team had identified a need to change how the team communicated with one another and how they worked towards achieving future objectives.
Library services have undergone significant change in recent years with the need for the council to work within state government standards and expectations in terms of future delivery.
It was essential that through working with Kiikstart, the leadership team could identify areas of process and workflow that were acting as roadblocks to successful execution of ideas and design real, cost-effective outcomes.
Reset the induction to positively set the scene for workplace reality.
Redesigned the job review process to deliver more value and better performance.
Re-imagined job roles in order to improve performance and deliver real outcomes through innovative thinking across the team.
Changed how skill gaps and risks are perceived within the team to find new opportunities for growth.

As a result, the library leadership team was able to change the processes for communicating with one another in order to achieve more with the same level of resourcing.
Support and means of sharing innovative ideas with one another were introduced into daily operations and there was a respectful expectation that everyone would contribute.
By being 100% focused on what high value-work is within a modern library setting, the leadership team made strategic decisions on where focus needed to be.
Anything that did not fit the criteria of high-value work was removed or delegated appropriately. Resulting in less waste in terms of time and team expertise and increased delivering on the highest value actions that have the greatest impact.
